Paul Kent, 82, of Newington, died Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at his home.
He was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, on January 18, 1930, the son of Norman F. and Mildred (Chick) Kent. He was a graduate of Portsmouth High School, Class of 1948 and attended Keene State College.
Paul served in the United States Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany.
He was formerly employed for the Portsmouth Herald as a printer and foreman.
Paul was a Newington Selectman for 24 years and had also served on various other boards for the Town of Newington, including his current position on the Board of Police Commissioners. He was a Communicant of St. Johns’ Episcopal Church in Portsmouth and was a member of St. Andrew’s Lodge No. 56 F&AM of Portsmouth.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Joyce (Dow) Kent, his wife, Anita M. (Gardiner) Kent, and his daughter Sherri Lynne Kent.
Survivors include three daughters, Jennifer Kent Weiner and her husband, James of Newington, Victoria Kent Eversman and her husband, Stuart of Newington, Heidi Kent Ricci and her husband, John of Portsmouth; two grandchildren, Alexandra Kent Ricci and Joseph Erminio Ricci both of Portsmouth; siblings, Lawrence Kent and his wife, Jessie of Eliot, ME, Virginia Earle and her husband, William of Portsmouth; sister-in-law, Ann Kent of New Castle; several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held from 10:00 to 11:00am with Masonic Services at 10:45am, by St. Andrew’s Lodge, on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 101 Chapel Street, Portsmouth. A funeral services will immediately follow at the Church at 11:00AM. Friends are invited. Family flowers only.
