Alison L. (Alexander) Hilton, 87, of Portsmouth, died Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Clipper Harbor of Portsmouth.
She was born in Campobello Island, New Brunswick, Canada, on February 28, 1925, the daughter of the late John and Roselyn (Newman) Alexander. Alison attended and graduated from Campobello schools.
During World War II she served in the Royal Canadian Navy.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed at Data General formerly of Portsmouth.
Alison enjoyed spending time with her family and dedicated much of her time taking care of her disabled daughter Joann.
Survivors include four children, Lester G. Hilton and wife Debbie of Lancaster, NH, Joann G. Hilton of Portsmouth, Judy A. Seger and husband Larry of Lebanon, ME, Dennis R. Hilton and wife Margaret of Somersworth; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; special daughter-in-law, Linda Hilton of Gulfport, FL; three brothers, Dick Alexander of Old Orchard Beach, ME and Naples, FL, Glen and Wayne Alexander both of New Brunswick, Canada and Robert Alexander of Ontario, Canada; numerous nieces and nephews.
Alison was predeceased by her husband Lester E. Hilton and son Stephen Hilton.
Services: Visiting hours will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Friday, September 28, 2012 at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad Street, Portsmouth. Funeral services will be held at 10AM on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the funeral home. Family flowers only.
