Rye – Jonathan M. Mickle, 27, of Rye, died October 30, 2012.
He was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, on August 19, 1985, the son of Warren C. Mickle, Jr. and the late Kathleen F. “Katie”(Burke) Mickle.
Jonathan was a graduate of Portsmouth High School, Class of 2003 and was currently a member of Southern New Hampshire University, Class of 2013 where he received high honors and was on the Dean’s list.
He served in the United States Army during the war in Iraq. He received the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Overseas Service Ribbon.
Jonathan was an avid New England sports fan. He was a member of the Emerson Hovey Post #168, VFW. Survivors include his father of Portsmouth, brothers, Robert and Matthew and his wife Kristy of Kittery, Maine, sister, Whitney Mickle and fiancé Michael Foley of Eliot, Maine, and niece Marlee Jane Mickle.
A time of visitation will be held from 1-3PM on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad Street, Portsmouth with VFW services at 12:45PM by Emerson Hovey Post #168. Graveside services will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, November 5, 2012 at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH. Friends are invited. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to NH Easter Seals, 555 Auburn Street, Manchester, NH 03103.
