Julie M. Christo, beloved wife of the late Christopher S. Christo, of Rye, NH, walked into the arms of the Lord on November 12, 2012. She was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, to Thimi and Anastasia (Palomidha) Mina, the fourth of six siblings in a very close-knit family. Her sisters Evelyn Peters, Margaret Mboria and Rita LaFond, as well as her twin brothers, M. James Mina and Sotir (Sonny) Mina, all predeceased her. In her youth, she and her sisters sang for the local radio station in Worcester.
Julie graduated from the Commerce School in Worcester, Massachusetts and served as executive secretary to the CEO of Watkins Dry Cleaners in Westbrook, Maine, before marrying Chris in 1951 and moving to New Hampshire to raise her family. She later worked as administrative assistant to the Vice President at GTE Sylvania, in Exeter, NH before retiring to enjoy time with her grandchildren and her rose garden. Following her retirement, she was honored by the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Portsmouth, where she sang in the choir for many years, for her tireless work on the Kosovo Relief Clothing Drive.
Julie was a loving wife and mother and a gentle and charming woman. She made her house a home with her own stylish interior decorating, delicious cooking and avid gardening, all wrapped in her unconditional love. She loved to read, to sing, to laugh and to entertain her family.
She is survived, and will be greatly missed, by her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and John Coffey of Simi Valley, California, her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Stephen and Kathy Christo, of Stratham, New Hampshire, her grandsons, John C. Coffey of Culver City, California and Scott S. Christo of Portsmouth, granddaughter Caitlin M. Christo of Stratham, and several nieces and nephews.
