U.S. Veteran

Portsmouth – James J. O’Neil, 86, a retired Electrical Engineering Technician from Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 after a long illness.

Jim was an Army Veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Adelaide (Basti) O’Neil; daughters, Carol Wilkinson and her husband Dennis of Dover, Susan O’Neil of Dover, and Marilyn O’Neil of Portsmouth; grandchildren, Andrea Wilkinson of Dover and Matthew Wilkinson of Dover and Athens, Ohio; his brother, Robert O’Neil of Malden, MA; and his sister, Dorothy Maccioli of Malden, MA.

Visiting hours will be held from 12:00 – 2:00PM on Monday, January 21, 2013 at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home – Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad Street, Portsmouth. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:30PM on Monday, January 21, 2013 at St. James Church of Corpus Christi Parish, 2075 Lafayette Road, Portsmouth.
