Phyllis (Fuller) Irish, 97, of Rochester and formerly of Portsmouth, died Friday, February 1, 2013.

She was born in Cliftondale, Massachusetts, on February 17, 1915, the daughter of Elmer E. and Leatrice (Critch) Fuller. She was a graduate of Traip Academy, Kittery, Maine, Class of 1932.

Phyllis was a member of the North Congregational Church in Portsmouth and the North Church Women’s Club.

Phyllis was a spry woman with a sharp sense of humor, a pension for politics and was always ready to tell a story about the "good 'ole days." She was the last original resident of Margeson apartments, living there over 39 years, and she loved calling Portsmouth her home. She will be missed greatly by all her friends and family she left behind.

She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Arthur E. Irish, Jr, daughter, Gail E. Irish, brother, Frank Fuller, Jr., and three sisters, Lillian Latourelle, Inez Gaspar, and Eva Hannan.

Survivors include her son, David E. Irish of North Carolina, three grandsons, two granddaughters, two great-granddaughters, several nieces and nephews.

Phyllis’ family would like to thank Beacon Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Phyllis and her family.

Graveside services will be held in the spring.
