U.S. Veteran

CW2 Charlie Morgan, 48, of the NH National Guard passed away on Sunday February 10, 2013. She was surrounded by the love of family and friends at the time of her passing. She lived in New Durham with her wife Karen and daughter Casey Elena. Charlie was a veteran who deployed to Kuwait in 2010 and received a Meritorious Service Medal for her work as the Brigade Equal Opportunity Advisor. She was a board member of the Service Members Legal Defense Network and Outserve who fought tirelessly for marriage equality and human rights. During her lifetime she was also a dedicated employee of the Lexington Herald-Leader in Lexington, KY and for Foster’s Daily Democrat in Dover, NH. Before rejoining the National Guard in 2004, she taught high school in Pendleton County, KY. She attended high school in Williamsburg, KY and was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and the University of Kentucky. Charlie was a courageous spirit who gave every ounce of herself to her country, her community and to her family and friends- without reservation or conditions. Charlie’s love for life was contagious and she inspired each person she met to find the positive in life. She loved traveling, teaching, playing with her daughter and spending time with dear friends.

She is survived by her wife Karen, daughter Casey Elena, mother Maria Elena Brittian, sister Lynda Gangloff, brothers Wayne and Larry Lineberger who will love her forever. She was predeceased by her brothers Jimmy Kimmy, Chester Kimmy and Dan Lineberger and her father James Clinton Kimmy.

A memorial service will be held at South Church, 292 State Street, in Portsmouth on Thursday February 14, 2013 at 3:00. Reverends Lauren Smith and Chris Holton Jablonski will officiate. Donations may be made to SLDN Outserve at PO Box 65301, Washington, DC 20035.

“Courage is not the absence of fear or despair, but the strength to conquer them”.
